The 2009 Worldwide Reinsurance Awards winners

Munich Re and broker Guy Carpenter were among the winners at the 16th annual Worldwide Reinsurance Awards, which were held at The Dorchester hotel in London on Wednesday September 2.

The German reinsurer scooped the top accolade at the prestigious awards ceremony, picking up the coveted Reinsurance Company of the Year gong for the first time.

Meanwhile, Guy Carpenter's credit, bond and political risk team was crowned Reinsurance Broking Team of the Year, the fifth time that Guy Carpenter has been awarded this accolade in the past six years.

The awards have been the only ones internationally recognised by the reinsurance industry since their inception and more than 350 senior insurance and reinsurance executives attended the presentation, which was hosted by The Review editor, Greg Dobie.
