Lex Baugh was named CEO on December 2008, having been appointed managing director in December 2007. He was previously president of AIG Europe - AIU's operation in continental Europe. He joined AIG in 1983 in the US and specialised in financial lines. He has held significant management positions in the UK, the US and Europe. As a result of the positions he has held, Lex has detailed knowledge of corporate governance and regulatory issues in both the UK and continental Europe.
David Brown is a founder of Flagstone Re and has served as CEO since its inception in 2005. Prior to this Mr. Brown served as the CEO of Haverford (Bermuda) Limited and as the chief operating officer of West End Capital Management (Bermuda) Limited. From 1993 he served as president and CEO at Centre Solutions (Bermuda) Limited. Before this he was a partner with Ernst & Young in Bermuda, where he specialised in insurance and was involved in the liquidation of numerous insurance companies.
Toby Esser joined Cooper Gay in 1984 as a non marine property broker and led the team that launched and ran Cooper Gay's New York office in 1988. ?He has been a board director since 1997 and was appointed as group CEO in 2001. Since his appointment Cooper Gay has expanded rapidly both organically and through a number of strategic transactions. Under his stewardship, the revenue of the company has increased from £20m to £83m across 30 offices worldwide and the number of shareholders grown above 100.
Seb Kafetz is a relationship director for Lloyds TSB Corporate Markets with responsibility for originating and executing transactions for international insurance and reinsurance clients. Mr Kafetz's focus is the insurance market in which he has a strong network of clients and professional contacts, primarily in the London and Bermudian insurance markets He holds a Masters in Management from Durham University Business School and the ACT (Association of Corporate Treasurers) qualification.
Andrew Kendrick was appointed to the position of chairman and chief executive officer, of ACE European Group in November, 2004. In his role he oversees the operations of over 2000 ACE employees in 26 countries, covering Europe, the Middle East and South Africa Prior to his appointment he served as president & chief executive officer, ACE Bermuda. Mr Kendrick joined ACE in 1996, bringing with him almost 20 years of insurance industry experience.
Originally working in London, Mr Kendrick's previous position at ACE was as director of underwriting and active underwriter of Syndicate 2488 at Lloyd's
Greg Maciag joined ACORD in 1977 and has served in a variety of roles including vice present of automation, corporate secretary and treasurer and executive vice president. He was appointed president of the company in 1994.
Mr Maciag led the expansion of ACORD to serve the life and annuity segment of the business. This was followed by ACORD's merger with WISe in London and Brussels.
Prior to joining ACORD, Mr Maciag held operations and systems positions with Chubb & Son and the National Council on Compensation Insurance.
Gail Norstrom is the president and CEO of Gulf Re. Prior to joining Gulf Re in February 2008, he was.most recently a managing director of Aon Risk Services property practice group. Before joining Aon in 2001, Mr Norstrom spent over 30 years in the property insurance business all with Industrial Risk Insurers (IRI). He retired from IRI in June of 2001 after eight years as president and CEO.
Mr Norstrom holds a MSC in Physics from the University of Illinois and a MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management.
Joanna Parsons is Head of Mid Market Research at RBS. She started her career at insurance broker Willis Faber & Dumas, now Willis Group. She became an insurance analyst in 1994, firstly with James Capel and then HSBC. Joanna joined RBS, then ABN AMRO, in 2003 as an Equity Insurance analyst. She has been consistently one of the top ranked UK Smaller Company Insurance analyst in Extel and Starmine, as well highly ranked in the overall analyst tables. She continues to work as the Mid Market Insurance analyst as well as being responsible for the UK research product outside the FTSE 250.
Sarah Turvill joined the Willis Group in 1978. In her time with the company she has held a number of senior management roles. She is a member of the group's executive committee and has 30 years of experience in the insurance brokerage industry all of which have been with Willis.
She has been instrumental in building Willis' European network as well as the group's operations in China, Latin America, India and other high-growth markets.
She is also responsible for driving Willis' One Flag team culture.
Simon Wilson joined Markel International in January 2010. For the previous three years he was Lloyd's general representative in Singapore and managing director of Lloyd's Asia.During this time, he oversaw the successful development of the Singapore platform which now incorporates 17 Lloyd's syndicates.
His responsibilities at Markel International include project work and international business development. He will be based in London, although initially he will be seconded to Markel International's Singapore office.
Prior to joining Lloyd's Asia, Simon was the manager of international strategy and licence development for Lloyd's Worldwide Markets.
Dr Becke has been a member of Hannover Re's executive board since 1992. Since 1994 he has held responsibility for the reinsurer's life and health markets worldwide. Prior to joining Hannover Re, Dr Becke served in a number of roles at Hamburg International Reinsurance Company. His roles at the company included chief financial and investment officer and head of life reinsurance. Before Dr Becke entered the reinsurance world in 1978, he was a lecturer in mathematics at Freiburg University in Germany.
